Day Game

The Dodgers were in town and there was a day game. A no brainer--had to take the kid.

15 minutes to drive to the Ballpark
free on street parking a few blocks from the Ballpark
Walked up and got great $10 tickets

Hal was absolute champ, he slept for eight and a half innings. Needless to say he did not get much out of it. After the game we went out to eat at the "Good Stuff Eatery" . I was looking forward to eating there, I had heard glowing reviews and nothing but great stuff about it. Christy had been wanting their "toasted marshmallow milk shake." My Chili Burger was better than average, but if I'm gonna pay $8 for a burger I want more than eight bites...
The fries were also really good. The milkshake was amazing (and I'm not a milkshake person).

Multiplied

Welcome to Hal Donavon Ghazi-moradi.
Born April 6, 2010 at 8:47 a.m.
7 pounds, 4 ounces
20 inches long

Cute features:

extra long toes and feet
he sports a fuzzy back and shoulders
a small cleft chin like his Dad
enjoys sleeping with his hands right by his cheeks

Why we named him Hal Donavon:
Our baby Hal was named after Hal Magleby, the oldest child of my families best friends the Magleby's. Hal and I were the same age, and we also happened to live down the street from each other. Sadly, Hal passed away when he was 14 of a brain tumor. Hal knew he was a Child of God, was the best behaved in our Sunday School class, was shy yet had a great sense of humor, loved being outdoors and was wise beyond his years. All qualities I would like to see in our son. Donavon is the middle name of my Grandpa and my brother Kyle. My grandpa has passed away, but he was a great Grandpa. And let's be honest, who doesn't love Kyle?

The Labor Story:So on the day of Hal's birth I woke up at about 3:15 to go to the bathroom. I had a hard time going back to sleep because my back was sore and I felt some contractions. I had a pretty good feeling that I was going to have a baby that day. I walked around, read some books, took a long, hot shower, dried my hair and waited for Reza to wake up. His alarm went off at about 6:30 and I told him we were gonna have a baby. He called work, at about this time the contractions were coming about every 10 minutes, but only lasting about 30 seconds or so, but with increasing intensity. Reza got up showered, we ate breakfast and starting thinking about packing up the car. At 7:30 I called the doctor cause the contractions were increased in intensity and speed quickly. He said to come on over. Reza went to move the car around to the front of our building, we made sure we had all our toiletries etc. It's about 8:10 by this point and I start feeling the urge to push. Luckily we live about a mile from the hospital, but it was also rush hour-ish so it took a little bit longer then normal to get there. I tried to convince myself we had lots of time before the baby was going to come, so he parked in the far reaches of the lot and we started walking. Only I felt the urge to push in the parking lot. Finally we made it to admissions, she quickly sent us up stairs. At this point contractions were about every 2-3 minutes and I was ready to push. I got into the Labor and Delivery room at 8:25, Reza ran downstairs to finish my admissions stuff. I got on the table, a billion people rushed around to set up the room. My water broke and it had muconium (Hal's poop in it), which is not a good sign. After about 6 pushes (2 sets of 3) Hal was born! I won't lie the delivery part didn't even hurt. Because of the stuff in the amniotic fluid the clipped his cord and rushed him to the other side of the room super fast. Reza went with the baby, and the neonatologist sucked out his lungs and made sure he was ok. I got to hold him about 20 minutes later and he was perfect. So far he has been a calm, healthy baby. We think he's perfect, and has a face that more than just a mother can love.
