I win! I win! I win!

So maybe I have been watching the Bachelorette. It's been a great release from the stress of school. Plus who doesn't love just watching these types of TV. Anyways I know that I do! I also just want to say straight up I totally called the final four. And I picked Jason as my winner from the second I saw him on the 1st show! So I am pretty jazzed Jesse and Jason made the final two. I also think that Jeremy is totally a player and just wanted to "win".(Oh, and I just found out by reading his bio that Jason's hometown is Cleveland, so I like him even more now!!!)

OMG! I just found out that Jesse's hometown is in OHIO as well!!!

That settles it, she can pick either and I will be happy. But to be fair to Jason I have been pulling him from the very beginning! Oh the the drama.

TUPACALYPSE

I have more Tupac on my ipod than most-on a recent run it dawned me how old these songs are, when Tupac raps about the Clinton/Dole election, I realize that was 12 years ago. So here are some of more thoughts from one of my runs...

So in our neighborhood there are lots of yard signs for Barack Hussein Obama II. Wilst running through the neighborhood listing to Tupac-I hear these words from Tupac:

Who would have thought back in 1998 we would see a Mormon, a Woman and a Black Man running for President?

I wonder what Tupac would rap about this election... if he were around...

Exciting Times

So we got my brothers weekly email today. It's really fun to read what he has been doing for the week as he serves a mission in New York City. Anyways these are some quality highlights from the this weeks email.....

"Well, I have a very big new to share with you, two big news in fact. On Thursday, the New York Times reporter is going to spend a day with Elder Westra and I. The NEW YORK TIMES!!!!! Pray for me! How that happen was a funny story. We went to the Zone Conference inside the temple building, the church part. When the meeting was over, we proceed to leave the temple. There was a woman waiting outside and as soon we got out, she started asking us questions and it was Elder Westra who kindly answers her every questions and now you know why she want to follow us on Thursday. Oh boy. I have a lot of faith and I intend to focus but pray for me that I don't mess this up. Wow, hopefully it will get publish. And President Searle approve this! Why every good things is happening around me? Don't worry, no pride is involved. I'm as humble as I can get."

SO YES MY BROTHER MAY BE IN THE NEW YORK TIMES!

The Goodwill in Bakersfield, where else would you get a sweet suit for 12.50? Apparently it cost more to dry-clean it, then it was to purchase it.

The Lincoln Fieldings

Our dear friends Mallory and Lincoln got married this weekend. We like to refer to them as "The Lincoln Fieldings". Which I believe they appreciate. A funny note about this couple, is that way before they even got engaged Reza put Mallory's phone number in his phone as "Mallory Fielding". So we like to think that he predicted their nuptials. Anyways the wedding was fabulous. The weather got pretty nasty before the outdoor, backyard reception, but the rain stopped before it started and the reception was WONDERFUL. Reza even busted a move on the dance floor with me for at least 3 songs. And as you will see from the pictures, Mallory wanted all of her friends to wear white. So don't think that I was just trying to steal attention away from the beautiful bride! Reza also looked stunning in his 3 piece, $12.50 seersucker suit.

Oh and Reza's other favorite girl (his 4runner, turned 77777!!!!)

Indiana, Pennsylvania

We trekked over to Indiana, PA last weekend to meet up with our friends the Derr's who live in D.C. Zach and Reza both competed in a sprint triathlon. And they both did fabulous! It was great to see the Derr's, as well as take Reza to the furthest East he has ever been. We drove to Indiana on Friday night, and there were the biggest, coolest thunderstorms ever! One of the things I love best about summer is the amazing thunderstorms we have. We woke up Saturday morning to great weather.

For all you know he came in first! :) (He actually almost had a personal best, and finished 5th in his age group.)
He was sweaty and gross, but happy.
We visited with some of Reza's friends: the Nelson's. They live in Pittsburgh. This is Reza in front of the Steeler's stadium. The Nelson's live in a hilltop neighborhood right near downtown, and they took us exploring Pittsburgh. We both were surprised with how hilly the city is, and we both really liked it. It's a little bit old and rundown, but it has a lot of character.
We went up this trolley car called the Dusquene Incline, this is the view from the top. There are over 400 bridge in Pittsburgh. And the downtown is right were the Allegehny and the Monogohela Rivers meet to form the mighty Ohio.

What the...?

So this is Reza's bedside table. The other morning I rolled over to look at his phone to see what time it was and this is what I saw. I did like a triple take before I realized that it's his airsoft gun. Tanner (my 12 year old brother) and him spent the weekend shooting army men in my backyard while I was in Reno. Apparently now I get to sleep by the gun. Boys.

Reno or Bust

Well as many of you know I spent the weekend in Reno. Jenny is a fabulous mom, Kevin is a fabulous dad, and Madelyn is a fabulous girl. It has however been years since I have been with such a newborn baby, I forgot how much they sleep. And really all they do is sleep, eat and poo. Regardless, Maddy is a very happy baby and would smile and laugh when I was ridiculous enough. I think my favorite part of the trip was when Jenny would bring Maddy to me in the mornings and she would go back to bed for a bit. It was great to just spend an hour or so looking at this sweet girl and ponder on the things of eternity. (As for the bottom picture they were doing construction at the Reno temple, and why this whole thing looks like a link is beyond me as well.)

Maybe I am biased but I think my dear niece Madelyn (at the bottom) looks an awful lot like her pretty aunt Christy (to the right). Anyways...I just got back from Reno, and she is one amazing girl, and has two amazing parents!

School's out!

Schools out for summer! Yahoo! Even though I only get 1.5 weeks off for summer, nothing beats waking up the day after your last final and realizing you have NOTHING to worry about!

In two days I get to go meet my niece in Reno, NV, and next weekend I get to go to Indiana, Pennsylvania to watch my dear husband compete in a triathlon! Yahoo for summer! I even went and got a new summer haircut to celebrate.
